Knitting and Frogs

We decided to clear the pond today before the frogs take over in the next few weeks.
I managed to slip and twist my ankle before we'd even got started properly. Anyway the pond is now free of the enormous flag iris that had taken over, and looking much better. T spent a lot of time picking up frogs and taking them back to the pond. We've left the big clumps of iris on the patio and I'm hoping any frogs still hiding in there will make their own way back to the pond this evening.

I'm now laid out on the sofa with my leg up and a very painful ankle. I'm going to spend the evening knitting.

52 Pair Plunge II

I decided to go for the 52 pair plunge challenge again this year. That's 52 pairs of socks from 1 June 2008 to 31st May 2009.

I should have knitted 12 pairs by now to be on target but I've only completed 4 (and a half) pairs. I've lots of work to do to catch up!

More knitting!

I've finished my second pair of socks for the 52 pair plunge and these will also count for SAM3 so I'm very pleased with myself. These were a fairly quick knit and very enjoyable, it was fun watching the stripes appear. These are an almost perfect matching pair except for the toes. I've just turned the heel on my embossed leaves socks. They are absolutely beautiful but need a fair amount of concentration as the leaf design is a 16 row pattern. I need some plain stocking stitch pairs to knit when watching tv and drinking wine.

I only managed to knit one row of H's aran sweater today. I was busy doing paperwork in the Knitwise shop and just didn't seem to find any time to knit! I'm going to try to finish the first of my embossed leaves socks tonight but I'm feeling very tired so not sure how much I'll get done.

Socks! Socks!

Well I finished my first pair of socks for the 52 Pair Plunge. I started yesterday about 2pm and finished them at 6.30pm. They were a quick and easy dk pair so it's not as impressive as it sounds.

I have started my second pair, which will also be used for SAM3. These are the embossed leaves socks by Mona Schmidt from Interweave Knits Winter 2005. I am using blue Sirdar Country Style 4 ply from my stash. This is a great yarn for socks as it is a wool/acrylic mix which washes really well.

Monkey Socks

Well, I finished my monkey socks. I've knit these using Jaeger 100% wool fingering which I found in my stash. I have four more 50g balls of this yarn so will be making more socks with it. I'm planning on doing one pair in rib and another in plain stocking stitch. I'll be making a lot more socks in the coming months. As well as SAM3 I have also joined the 52 Pair Plunge KAL. The aim of this KAL is to knit 52 pairs of socks between 1 April 2007 and 1 April 2008. This could be the end of my sock obsession (or it could make it worse!). Wish me luck!

Yesterday I completed the first front of my Dollar and a Half Cardigan (Interweave Knits, Spring 2007), so I just have the second front (with the cable) and the sleeves to knit. It shouldn't take too long. I've found this a very quick knit. The lace pattern keeps me interested in knitting the cardigan, and I find myself knitting to either the end of, or start of the lace pattern in each session, so I probably end up doing more rows than I would if it was just plain stocking stitch.

I'm planning to spend this next week finishing off some WIP. I have a cardigan and a cushion cover that both just need stitching together, and a sweater that just needs the neck band doing and stitching together. These are all the WIPs I am currently admitting to.
